Okay you are finally here after a chronic headache called “Another blog is already hosted at this address” ERROR! This often happens while moving our blogspot domain to a custom domain. Don’t panic and spoil your health, just do the following simple steps to get rid off that error!
- Sign-in to Google Apps account
Sign-in URL – https://www.google.com/a/YOURDOMAIN.com/
- Go to Service Settings – then select Sites
- Click Web address mapping
- You could see a www address in that list. Select and Delete it.
(Just proceed with all the delete warning and confirmations)
- Now go to your Blogger Dashboard – Settings – Publishing – Custom Domain – then point your blogspot domain to the new custom domain!
(Don’t forget to prefix www before your domain name)
IF THIS SOLUTION DOESN’T WORK, YOU CAN TRY OUT AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION PUBLISHED AT BLOGGERBUSTER.

lolI thought this disclaimer “IF THIS SOLUTION DOESN’T WORK FOR YOU, THEN GOOGLE “Another blog is already hosted at this address” and find another solution!” was pretty funny.You guys offer some great tips sometimes, but this one did not work.In my case no urls show up under the mapping section and so there is nothing to delete.
i’m with you, Brett… i don’t have any URLs under the mapping section either.
@Brett Bumeter, @JimmyH
Hey guys, please refer Blogger Buster’s post HERE if you still have that error..
This is ridiculous… all the solutions say to “log into your google apps account”, but I’m not a business and I don’t have (nor want!) a Google Apps account! Seems to be a completely separate system with its own login that I don’t know… hell, Google Apps even acts like my blog address is in their system as well. That’s really annoying but I don’t know what the hell to do about it when every solution keeps telling me to sign in to something I never even signed up for.Talk about frustrating. I’m just trying to move my blog from being hosted on my home server, to being hosted with Blogger. Ugh!
@Falcon
Hi Falcon, don’t be too annoyed like this, be cool dear friend, there is a solution for every problem!Sounds like you tried to create a custom domain through Blogger/Google. I’m not sure about what kind of error you encountered actually. You can visit Blogger Help Group HERE or Blogger Buster’s post HERE, or try to google your problem! I hope you will find a solution.

Dude, when I searched for a solution to this problem, you were the first result and your solution works, bingo!
NOTE: Give about 10 mins from the time you successfully add your custom domain to Blooger to the time you will see it work. For these ~10 mins you will see an ominous “Forbidden http 403″ message but do not despair. Just wait for a few mins and you’ll be good to go.
Thank you for documenting this suggestion in such clear detail!!

This didn’t work for me, but got me close. All I had to do was disable the Sites service completely in google apps and after a few minutes it was working. It seems with the Sites service it points your domain to a default google web site template. Had to turn it off. Thanks for the help!

In the end, I had to re-enable Sites, add a domain mapping, then delete the recently created mapping. It works!
