The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

The pen is usually linked with writing. It helps the writer to record his thoughts on paper. The words are something very powerful. They represent the mental force. Words are capable of evoking or stirring up emotions. Those emotions in turn can make people do anything.

Sword is regarded as a weapon that is to be used forcefully against someone. A sword can be wielded well only by those who are physically fit. Bur words can flow from the pen of a very feeble man. If he is a good writer, he can use the words to their desired effect.

Many great writers had inspired revolution. The French revolution for example was the result of the writings of great French writers like Montesquieu, Rousseau and so on. Writings can evoke different emotions as love, hatred, sympathy, etc. It is something that is to be regarded with awe and respect. Hence, pen is considered to be a mightier device than sword!

  • Hey Shafar, Love your interpretation very poetic in itself. Well done!
  • The pen is mightier than the sword among clever (or at least literate) people. Among mindless beast a pen will be useless indeed one better wield a sword ;-)
